POLECO2024 is behind us. Another milestone in the development of GOZ

POLECO 2024, which took place in Poznań from 15 to 17 October, was a key meeting of leaders of the environmental protection industry and a platform for innovation and development in the economic sector. The event was attended by nearly 180 companies from eight countries who presented their latest solutions and technologies, covering a wide range of topics: from waste management and energy efficiency to recycling and sustainable construction. From the point of view Waste Services Group, participation and organization of key discussion panels during POLECO is an opportunity not only to present their own achievements, but also to exchange experiences and build awareness about responsible waste management in the context of circular economy (GOZ).

There was a lot of interest in the forum during the fair Circular Economy Summit, where challenges in the circular economy are discussed, including the new packaging directive and the bail system to be implemented in Poland. Experts discussed the inclusion of critical and strategic raw materials in recycling processes, as well as the challenges of Industry 4.0, particularly in the context of battery and raw material management for the automotive industry.
An important issue was also the low-carbon transition, the implementation of which is key to achieving climate neutrality.

Robert Makiela, president of the Wastes Service Group, during his speech highlighted the challenges facing the electromobility recycling sector: “Circularity is a necessity. In the face of changes in the transport and energy industries, our role is not only to recover materials, but to actively shape the process of putting them back into circulation.”

Attendance above expectations

At the stand of Wastes Services Group during POLECO 2024, a wide range of professionals gathered, including leaders of companies related to waste management and recycling, representatives of local government units, as well as environmental experts. The guests were interested not only in the latest technologies in the field of waste management, but also in practical solutions related to the implementation of GOZ. The presentations of Wastes Service's innovative projects were of great interest, which show how the company supports sustainability through advanced recycling technologies, especially in areas such as strategic metal recovery and e-waste recycling.

Debates that will influence the shape of the circular economy in Poland and Europe

Michał Kusz, representing Green Recovery, also referred to the challenges of circular transformation, especially in terms of cooperation between sectors. Kusz noted: “Building efficient circular systems requires legislative support and better infrastructure. That is why we are engaging in debates about extended producer responsibility and modern bail systems that will be a pillar of sustainable waste management.”

During the fair, discussions about the future of GOZ in Poland, deposit systems, and regulations supporting recycling and waste management were of great importance. This year's edition brought together leaders from different sectors to explore how to accelerate the green transformation with the support of modern technologies and innovative business models. POLECO acts as an inspiring platform, promoting the exchange of knowledge and solutions that have a real impact on environmental protection and sustainable development in Poland and Europe.
