ENVICON Congress is one of the most influential events for the environmental protection industry in Poland. For years, it has consistently brought together experts, entrepreneurs and scientists to identify key topics for the industry through a common dialogue. The 27th edition of the congress was held in Wrocław, a Wastes Service Capital Group She was a special partner in this important event.

Waste management from a legislative perspective

The most important element of the Congress were discussion panels, where industry experts discussed the issues of municipal and waste management.

Another important point was the changes planned for 2025 in Europe, related to the obligation of selective collection of textiles. The speakers presented what concrete steps the European Union is taking towards textile recycling and what regulations are being introduced to make this process more efficient.

Of great importance was also the question of changing the view of waste as a raw material. Robert Makieła - President of the Wastes Service Capital Group stressed how important it is to reevaluate the approach to waste and direct it towards the development of the circular economy.

The session also focused on issues related to BDO, reporting, the grey area and transparency of the waste management market. It analysed what challenges the waste market poses to entrepreneurs and what measures can be taken to increase the transparency of this sector.

Energy independence

In the next panel, the issue of energy independence of Poland with the use of renewable energy sources was discussed more widely.

The first light has been shed on the issue of Poland's energy transition and the related question of whether it is possible to build an energy-safe country without dependence on fossil fuels. During the discussion, topics related to the potential challenges and benefits of such a process were raised, as well as various scenarios of energy development were analyzed.

An important aspect of the session was the discussion on energy recovery from waste. The speakers discussed methods and technologies that can contribute to the effective recovery of energy from accumulated waste, while minimizing the negative impact on the environment.

Much attention has been paid to the thermal transformation of waste and the role of WTe (Waste-to-Energy) plants in this process. Plans for the construction and modernization of WTe installations are presented, highlighting innovative approaches and technologies used in this area.

In the context of global ecological trends and sustainable development, issues related to renewable energy sources are also discussed.
