POLECO 2024, held in Poznań from 15 to 17 October, was a key meeting of environmental industry leaders and a platform for innovation and development in the economic sector. The event was attended by almost 180 companies from eight countries, who presented their latest solutions and technologies, covering a wide range of topics from waste management and energy efficiency to recycling and sustainable construction. From the point of view of Wastes Services Group, participation and the organisation of key discussion panels during POLECO is an opportunity not only to present one's own achievements, but also to exchange experiences and build awareness of responsible waste management in the context of the closed loop economy (GOZ).
The forum attracted a lot of interest during the fair. Circular Economy Summit, where they discussed the challenges in a circular economy, including the new Packaging Directive and the deposit system to be implemented in Poland. Experts addressed the inclusion of critical and strategic raw materials in recycling processes, as well as the challenges of Industry 4.0, particularly in the context of battery and raw material management for the automotive industry.
Low-carbon transition, the implementation of which is key to achieving climate neutrality, was also an important issue.
Robert Makiela, CEO of Wastes Service Group, highlighted the challenges facing the electromobility materials recycling sector during his speech: "Circularity is a must.
With changes in the transport and energy industries, our role is not only to recover materials, but to actively shape the process of putting them back into circulation."
The Wastes Services Group stand at POLECO 2024 brought together a wide range of professionals, including leaders of companies involved in waste management and recycling, representatives of local government units, as well as environmental experts. Guests were not only interested in the latest waste management technologies, but also in practical solutions related to the implementation of GOZ. There was a lot of interest in the presentations of Wastes Service's innovative projects, which show how the company supports sustainable development through advanced recycling technologies, especially in areas such as the recovery of strategic metals and the recycling of electronic waste.
Michal Kusz, representing Green Recovery, also addressed the challenges of circular transformation, particularly in terms of cooperation between sectors. Kusz noted: "Building efficient circular systems requires legislative support and better infrastructure. That is why we are engaging in debates about extended producer responsibility and modern deposit systems, which will be a pillar of sustainable waste management."
Discussions on the future of GOZ in Poland, deposit systems, and regulations supporting recycling and waste management were of great importance during the fair. This year's edition brought together leaders from various sectors to explore how to accelerate environmental transformation with the support of modern technologies and innovative business models. POLECO acts as an inspiring platform, promoting the exchange of knowledge and solutions that have a real impact on environmental protection and sustainable development in Poland and Europe.
