In a little while, every second new car in China will be electric. That's the forecast from car giant BYD," writes energetyka24.com
As announced by the CEO of BYD, the largest electric car manufacturer from the Middle Kingdom, as many as 48.2 per cent of newly purchased vehicles will be fully or partially electric models from March 2024.
"In the previous week, new electric vehicles (NEVs, a category that includes both all-electric BEVs and PHEV plug-in hybrids, as well as hydrogen cars) accounted for 48.2 per cent of all cars sold in China," - Wang Chuanfu, CEO of BYD, said in a statement to the website electrek.co.
Wang stressed that if the current momentum continues, NEVs will already account for half of all cars sold within three months. Just a month ago, the BYD director estimated that such a level would not be reached until the end of 2024. Throughout 2023, electric and hydrogen vehicles accounted for 35 per cent of all new cars sold in the Middle Kingdom.
